Scholarship Guidelines

The Elks City of Castries Cooperative Credit Union Limited Scholarship has been designed for children of members of the cooperative.

The scholarship contributes up to $1,500.00 per school year for secondary-level students. Members whose children are successful in the annual Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) are invited to apply for the scholarship. The application period ends on 31st July 2023.

 

The scholarship will go towards the cost of the following:

  • Tuition fees
  • Schools books and materials (as per book list)
  • Uniform allowance

 

Requirements for qualification:

  1. The parent or guardian of the applicant must have been a member of the Credit Union for at least one year prior to the application
  2. The savings and loan accounts for the parent or guardian of the scholarship recipient must be in good standing for the duration of the scholarship
  3. Delinquent loan account holders do not qualify for the Elks Credit Union scholarship

The Credit Union will review the qualifying scholarship applicants and will award recipients based on grades obtained.

 

Expectations of Scholarship Recipients

Scholarship holders are ambassadors of the Elks Credit Union and are expected to display attitudes and behaviors that are reflective of the Elks Credit Union

corporate standards. Discipline, conduct, and attitude will be considered when reviewing the eligibility for continuation in the programme.

The standard for all scholarship holders is as follows:

  • All students must maintain an overall year average of at least 70%
  • Students must at all times maintain proper discipline and attendance. The Credit Union will review remarks placed on the recipient’s Report Card.
  • At the end of the academic year, any student falling below the performance standards of the programme will be not awarded the grant of $1,500.00
  • Failure to submit results without a written reason from the parent or guardian will result in zero grade for the student for that term
  • Failure to submit results for two consecutive terms will automatically result in the disqualification of the student
  • · End of term results should be submitted to the Elks Credit Union by the following dates each year:

 

  • 1st Term – 31st December
  • 2nd Term – 30th April
  • 3rd Term – 31st July

 

The Board of Directors reserves the right to make amendments to this policy when necessary in the best interest of the membership
